Winged d'Argent, who is looking every inch a high-class stayer in the making, can underline that impression by adding to his tally of wins at Musselburgh tomorrow.
The Mark Johnston-trained three-year-old goes for the £40,000 totesport Willie Park Stakes, a Listed event, and promises to be hard to beat in the hands of Sheriff Hutton jockey Kevin Darley.
Unraced last season, Winged d'Argent has had just four outings this term, but has won three of them, including his latest two races since returning from a lengthy absence.
A battling winner at Ayr last month, Winged d'Argent stepped up on that display when gaining a wide-margin success at Doncaster 12 days ago, a victory that advertised his burgeoning talent.
Tomorrow's step up to two miles should suit Winged d'Argent perfectly and he is expected to come through with flying colours again.
The £10,000 totequadpot Handicap over five furlongs put the emphasis on speed, and Baron Rhodes is fancied to go well for Ryedale trainer John Wainwright. Tough and consistent, the three-year-old has run two fine races in defeat lately and, although this track may be sharper than ideal, she will be racing on her favourite easy ground.
The totepool Handicap offers Fiddlers Creek the chance to follow up his recent Ayr success for trainer Dick Allan.
The five-year-old battled home well that day in selling company, but over a trip short of his best. The step up to 12 furlongs will suit him and, proven with give in the ground, Fiddlers Creek is napped to go in again. Danny Tudhope is again on board.
Tim Easterby and David Allan were on the mark at Redcar yesterday with Game Lad, and the Great Habton partnership can follow up in the totesport.com Handicap with Most Definitely.
The four-year-old ended a frustrating sequence of near-misses when winning at Redcar last time. Now he has got his head in front, he may be able to deliver again.
At Kempton's jumping fixture, Alpha Gioconda deserves respect in the Trans Lloyd Developments Novices' Hurdle.
The seven-year-old, making his reappearance after being off since the spring, represents the powerful Lambourn stable of Nicky Henderson, whose horses can be expected to hit form soon. This gelding has the raw credentials to pay his way this winter.
