Heworth 'A' enjoyed a superb 40-14 win at Featherstone Lions 'A' in the first round of the Yorkshire League Alliance Cup.
A strong defence, fine handling and good support play was too much for the hosts as Heworth built up a 34-0 half-time lead with tries from Danny Flint, Sean Brough, Glen Chitlock, a 50-metre interception from Jamie Richardson and a fine brace from Sean Strickland. Gary Watkinson goaled five.
The pace slackened after the break with Heworth's only reward being a second converted try for Richardson while Fev scored a flurry of late points.
Heworth were well served in a fine team effort by Dave Varley, Kevin Gott and debutant Luke Cunningham.
York Acorn 'A' returned to winning ways and bounced back to joint-top in division four by beating leaders Thornton 24-10.
Acorn's conquerors last week, Wyke, fell to bottom-half club Brighouse Rangers.
