NIGEL Ingrams of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation seems of the opinion that we, the objectors, do not understand the foundation's plans for the proposed Derwenthorpe development.
Perhaps he would like to enlighten us in detail, especially with regard to vehicular access on to the proposed site.
If, as we suspect, Temple Avenue will lose its quiet cul-de-sac to site access for heavy contractors' vehicles, plus any other form of vehicle, and we will also lose our grass verges to concrete parking bays, present residents will obviously have our quality of life impaired.
The same applies to the quiet village of Osbaldwick, the Meadlands Estate and also Fifth Avenue.
We would all be entitled to claim substantial compensation from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation.
But I suspect it will find some excuse to shirk its responsibilities.
Bob Peel,
Temple Avenue, York.
