THE Post Office today confirmed the dates when several York sub-post offices will close down.
Six post offices across the city are to shut, despite protests from hundreds of customers angry at the inconvenience and disruption they will suffer.
Gale Lane and Holgate post offices will be the first to shut on November 25, followed by Albemarle Road two days later.
The Clarence Street office will close on November 29, followed by Boroughbridge Road on November 30.
The closure date for Fishergate has not yet been decided, and the Post Office has still not decided whether to go ahead with the closure of a seventh sub-post office in Bishopthorpe Road.
The Post Office has said that nationally, half of all high street offices could be closed or sold off, while the future of Crown offices - run directly by Royal Mail - will be investigated later this month by the Trade and Industry Select Committee.
