IN-FORM Harrogate Railway kept up their sparkling form with a 3-0 defeat of Borrowash Victoria to go second in the Northern Counties East League premier division.
With Ryan Haigh injured, manager Martin Haresign turned to 17-year-old academy player Rob Ewell for his debut and the youngster put in a solid performance before being replaced by academy team-mate Michael Tew.
Second half strikes from Scott Bairstow, Robbie Whellans and Chris Howarth separated the two sides and Haresign said: "It was a difficult game having beaten them 6-1 last week but it was a job well done. I gave a couple of lads the chance to play and they both did their chances no harm at all."
Goole are still riding high at the top of the division after a 3-1 win at Glasshoughton Welfare courtesy of Steve Davey.
Adam Walker opened the scoring on 27 minutes and Davey added a late brace in the last ten minutes to maintain their three point advantage at the top of the table after an equaliser on the stroke of half time for Glasshoughton.
Harrogate Town came close to wiping out their Halton Stadium hoodoo but had to settle for an unremarkable 0-0 draw.
Town had never before taken anything away from a trip to Runcorn FC Halton and gathered a welcome rare away point in the process to keep them in the top four of the Nationwide North table.
Tadcaster Albion proved they will be no easy touches when they face Garforth Town and Socrates later in the month with a 6-1 thrashing of lowly Parkgate in division one.
The Brewers returned to winning ways with a bounce and did their goal difference no harm at all in their attempt to chase down Sutton Town, who are top on the same points.
Matty Howgate scored on eight minutes before Matt Cressey evened things up with a 28th minute own goal.
A simple Andy Cygan header put them back in front and a four-goal second half rout settled the tie with Alan Jackson, Andy Battersby, Cygan and Howgate all on target.
Selby Town were back on the winning trail after a last-ditch 2-1 win over Maltby Main at Flaxley Road.
The Robins started well and almost took the lead in the first minute when Tom Reid hit the post.
Matthew Wain and Jason Harris both went close early on but it was the visitors who took the lead after 10 minutes when Lee McMahon scored on the break. The Robins continued to create and equalised in the 39th minute when Wain powerfully headed in from a free kick.
Selby remained on top in the second half and grabbed the winner in the 84th minute when substitute Adam Wash lashed the ball home after a good move and was unlucky not to double his tally in the last minute when another good shot hit the post.
