Holgate WMC 'A' took over the leadership of York and District Table Tennis League division one after a 7-3 win over Coneysthorpe 'A'.
John Farmery and Graham Hatfield were in great form for Holgate but the highlight of the match was a brilliant doubles clash in which Paul Creswell was outstanding. Coneysthorpe won the doubles 11-8, 11-5, 11-9.
York RI 'B' in second place, enjoyed an 8-2 win over Poppleton 'B'. John Hughes and Mark Blackburn each won three times.
Richard Moss won all his games for Poppleton 'A' but his side were beaten by Sessions 'A' 6-4. Groves WMC 'B' stayed in the top half of the table after their 9-1 win over York RI 'C' in which Pete Harpham and Dave Jackson were unbeaten.
York RI 'A' beat Sessions 'A' 6-4 with in-form Doug Bartle defeating Mick Wilcockson 11-9, 9-11, 15-13, 11-7.
Unbeaten Jill Rounce helped York RI 'C' draw 5-5 with York RI 'A'.
Four teams are challenging for the top spot in division two with Holgate WMC 'B' the current leaders. They beat Groves WMC 'C' 8-2 with Bob Young and John Flintoft each winning three.
Terry Nicholson and Dave Hough were the star performers as Sessions 'B' walloped BT 'B' 9-1.
David Lamb, the former county player, made his return to the York badminton scene when he played for Nestl Rowntree 'A' against Sessions 'B' .
The match finished 5-5 and Lamb, who used to play for St John's College in his student days, won two matches but lost 8-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-4, 9-11 to Keith Elsegood.
Bootham CC 'B' stayed up with the leaders after beating BT 'B' 8-2 with P Mills and Richard Ingleby each winning three.
Howard Broadbent's trio of victories was not enough to stop BT 'A' going down 6-4 to York RI 'D'.
Times are tough for Poppleton 'D'. They are at the bottom of the division and are struggling to field a full side at the moment.
In their latest match they went down 8-2 to BT 'A'. Phil Hall won all three for Northern Electric in a 6-4 success over Poppleton 'C'.
The two relegated teams are setting the pace in division three. Bootham CC 'C' whitewashed Norwich Union 'A' and Coneysthorpe, whose John Foxton was in top form, beat Shepherds 'B' 8-2.
Third place Holgate WMC 'C' beat bottom team Shepherds 'C' 10-0 and Holgate WMC 'D' enjoyed their first win of the season with a 6-4 victory over York RI 'E' in which Clive Warley recorded three wins.
Groves WMC 'D' lead division four after beating York RI 'J' 6-4, although James Plowman played well for RI.
York RI 'H' thrashed Poppleton 'G' 10 and Sessions 'C' beat Norwich Union 'B' 8-2 with Robert Farmery and John Stokes winning three games each. Farmery's win was the longest game of the week - 19-17 over Andrew Slezak.
Alan Milner of Shepherd's 'D' won all his games in the 6-4 victory over Nestl Rowntree 'B' 6-4 and repeated the feat in the 6-4 loss against Poppleton 'F'.
