I WAS recently a patient in York Hospital and my husband came to visit me.
We live in Malton and the journey took over one-and-three-quarter hours, not because of any difficulty on the A64, but because of the time it took to shunt along Wigginton Road and into the car park to find a vacant spot.
I know the situation is aggravated by the building of the extension to the hospital, and I know that the extension will be of great advantage to patients.
It will, however, decrease the amount of space for parking.
Would it be possible to have a park-and-ride system for the hospital? If one could be situated just off the ring road, so that car drivers from the whole of the hospital catchment area have easy access to it, I am sure that visitors would have no objection to paying a fair price for the parking and riding.
Maybe it could be a money spinner for the hospital.
