I APPLAUD Councillor D'Agorne for ripping up his free councillor parking pass in the debate to end free parking for City of York councillors (October 27).
At least he is showing considerable merit in attempting to stop this local gravy train.
After the arrogance shown by York city councillors Reid and Galloway in the extremely unpopular car-parking charges debate, does it come as a surprise that such self-opinionated and egotistical councillors consider it below their station to pay the same charges for parking that they have imposed on the populace of York?
What gives them the right to think that they should be exempt from such charges that all other citizens have to pay when attending work?
Surely their inflated council allowances, paid from the public purse, should make such perks dishonourable and unnecessary.
