VOLUNTEER Arms hit back to beat Severus SC in their John Smiths' York Sunday Morning Football League division one derby.

Severus had the better of the early exchanges Arms and it was no surprise when Neil Ducey gave them the lead.

The second half, however, belonged to the visitors as Lee Bond levelled and then Jimmy Clamp hit a deserved winner.

The Hounds defence had kept clean sheets in their first four league games of the season but were taken apart early on at Wigginton Grasshoppers.

The home team raced into a two-goal advantage within the first ten minutes. A debated penalty converted by Jackson halved the arrears before the break but Wigginton soon restored their two-goal cushion.

Hounds then took advantage of some soft defending when they struck three times through Clayton, Gladwell and an own goal to run out 4-3 winners.

Wayne Brook opened the scoring for Selby Olympia WMC at home to leaders Marcia, who struck back with two goals in two minutes through O'Brien (18 mins) and Mark Ford (20 mins).

Ten minutes into the second period, Mick Barnett fired a 25-yarder into the top corner to put Selby on level terms. With time running out it looked like a point apiece until former Leeds United man Ford produced a spectacular overhead kick from outside the box to give Marcia a 3-2 win.

A Seb Towse penalty on the stroke of half-time gave Derwent United a 1-0 win as Ainsty failed to unlock a well organised home defence.

Thorpe United did just enough to beat Blacksmiths Arms 2-0 courtesy of goals from Emery and Wood.

Second division leaders Edward VII lost their 100 per cent record in emphatic style as they went down 5-0 to a resurgent Acomb WMC side who have now won four on the bounce.

Danny Gray (2), Barker, McGarry and Robinson were Acomb's marksmen.

Shipton moved to the top on goal difference with a 6-0 win over Turpin with Blake netting twice more to take his tally for the season to 11.

Hemingbrough seem to have shaken off their early season blues as they hit seven for the second week in a row this time against the luckless Boot & Slipper with Neil Taylor notching a hat-trick.

Goals from Thornton and Ledgeway earned Burnholme (Earswick) a 2-1 win at Haxby Lions, whose conslation came from Drummond.

Division four leaders Skelton shook off their travel sickness to record their first win on the road since March by defeating Albion Vaults thanks to goals from Neal Holmes, Liam Holmes and Prangnell.

Ryan Chadwick scored five times and Steven Jeff three as Selby Olympia Reserves hit nine first-half goals past the hapless Rumours defence.

The second half was tighter with Howells hitting a consolation for the visitors in a 10-1 defeat.

Bay Horse (Tadcaster) now have the only 100 per cent winning record in the league after they won 6-1 at Poppleton Road WMC. Thomas hit a hat-trick as Black Swan won by the same score at Enterprise.

Ratcliffe and Brooks each scored twice as Gypsy Moth beat Acomb Celtic 5-3. F1 Racing lost 4-3 at Castle Howard Ox for whom Mangan netted a double.

In division five, two early strikes from Knapton and Sykes gave Cawood a two-goal lead against leaders Thomas Hotel, who pulled one back before the break through Henry Smith.

Hotel bombarded the Cawood goal in search of an equaliser but Knapton struck his second from almost half way to make it 3-1.

Quaker Wood took full advantage to move into top spot with a 3-1 win over Wrights Sports Bar courtesy of goals from Hussein, Chappell and Allen.

A Firat Dogan hat-trick and two goals from Shaun Owen gave CPP a 5-1 win over Edinburgh Arms, Murphy grabbing the consolation.

Firkin 103 moved up to third with a 2-1 win over second-placed Wanderers thanks to goals from McDonagh and Callam. Andy Metcalfe hit four more as Raskelf showed little mercy on Holgate WMC when winning 11-1.
