IN response to Charles Hutchinson's review of Pinafore Swing (October 20) I must come to the rescue of this brilliant adaptation of Gilbert and Sullivan's HMS Pinafore.

Having read his review I hesitated in parting with my money, but intrigued to see the twist on the traditional production I decided to go on this voyage of discovery.

I can only praise the wonderful cast of eight whom between them all played several instruments to recreate the wonderful big band sound.

I certainly was not alone in my appreciation of this performance. All members of my party and, indeed, all the audience showed that they had truly been entertained.

I am writing this as a warning to all would-be theatregoers that whilst reviews can be interesting don't be put off by one person's opinion (I nearly was). I think on this occasion it was Mr Hutchinson who was all at sea.
