I HAVE just returned from visiting the graves of my parents in the village of Wensley some 55 miles from my home.
My wife and I left Wensley at 3pm on Tuesday, arriving at the Clifton side of York at 4.30pm.
As the radio traffic updates had notified us that the outer ring road was congested I decided to use the inner ring road to drive home.
Traffic was moving very slowly when I got to Skeldergate Bridge; the time was 4.40pm. I finally got home to Maple Grove, Fulford Road at 6.17pm. It had taken me one hour 37 minutes to travel less than half a mile.
It would appear there were many areas of the city gridlocked.
A possible reason was some temporary traffic lights on Fulford Road.
If this were so then I would have thought assistance from the police could have helped the situation. I would like to know who is going to be accountable for the chaos of that evening.
G Alderson,
Maple Grove,
York.
