FOR only the second time in four years, York Under-11 schoolboy footballers reached a double-figure score when they trounced Spen Valley 10-2 in a league encounter at York Sixth Form College.

York found themselves 3-0 up at half-time after laying siege to the Spen Valley goal. Jamie Willstrop continued his goal scoring spree when collecting the hosts' first two goals, while a Karl Knowles strike ensured a healthy advantage at the break.

York continued in the same vein during the second half with Willstrop completing his hat-trick.

Spen briefly offered some resistance when grabbing two goals back but this spurred York on to greater things. A Willstrop fourth restored York's healthy advantage before Charlie Clamp (2), Conor Qualter (penalty), Jacob Gore and centre-back Alex Dale completed the rout.

Alex Needham made a fine debut for York, who will look to continue their good form when they entertain Gateshead at York Sixth Form College on Saturday. Kick off is at 11am and players are asked to meet at 10.15am. Bring £2 subs.
