WEDNESDAY night's wild card play-off will decide the fifth finalist for the Certified 2004 final at Certificate 18, Gillygate, York.
At 8.30pm, Soma and Kiwis Ned will be competing to join The Alcoholics, 3DaysForward, Hedcage and Delta Volts in next Friday's final.
"The Alcoholics are an outstanding Sheffield group who make The Strokes look like Bros," says competition organiser Phil Gallagher. "3DaysForward are a blistering Haxby outfit reminiscent of Blink182 and Green Day; Hedcage will be presenting Malton with their classic rock explosion of energy, and Delta Volts are a very tight, quirky lot who successfully marry dance and rock, akin to Primal Scream."
Admission on Wednesday is £2. Next Friday's final at 8.30pm is a ticket-only event; tickets are on sale at £5 at Certificate 18 or on 07876 140256 or via e-mail to philflow88@hotmail.com.
First prize is £1,000, and the runners-up will make good use of a day in a state-of-the-art recording studio, courtesy of Cube Media.
