SUPER-SUB Jamie Wilstrop turned the game for York under-11 schoolboys after scoring within a minute of entering play in their 2-0 defeat of a strong Hull side.
A tight first half yielded few chances for either side although Karl Knowles went closest from a Conor Qualter cross but the scores remained blank until Wilstrop came on and latched onto a through ball before slotting past the keeper.
York maintained the pressure and Jacob Gore was rewarded for his endeavour with a goal to seal the win from close range.
Also instrumental in the win were Sam Byram and centre halves Luke Quantock and Alex Dale.
York are next in action on Saturday when they entertain Spen Valley in the league at York Sixth Form College.
Slick passing and hard work were not enough for York under-12 schoolboys as they were pipped 3-2 at South Notts.
Captain Adam Thornton led by example and scored York's first to level with a deft chip over the keeper.
A controversial handball penalty - which appeared to have been chested down by Adam Stelmach - was saved by Tom Young for his second in two games.
A brave Steven Jarman header was turned in by Dominic Conricode to put York ahead but two late goals including one form a free-kick just toppled the visitors.
Buoyant York U13s schoolboys rattled five past South Notts in their second match of the season.
York settled quickly despite arriving just 20 minutes before kick off and man-of-the-match Joel Dixon soon got them off the mark after smashing home a spilled Mike Byram effort.
South Notts did little to trouble Aled Griffiths in the York goal but rounded him once, only for Ryan Qualter to clear off the line with his knee.
Midfield star Cathial Tosh stamped his authority on the game in the second half and goals flew in from sub Joe Dale, George Riley and substitute striker Marco Shepherd (2).
