TWO members of the next generation of rugby league referees have been selected for the advanced training camp.
Teenagers Shane Daniel and Gareth Evans have become the first members of the York Rugby League Referees' Society to earn a call to the highest level of development training.
The pair have worked their way through area, regional and national camps and will now join 28-other hand-picked referees who have been earmarked as potential top-level refs of the future.
The all-expenses paid camp takes place this weekend and will include an assessed match on Saturday plus feedback on Sunday.
Evans has already started to get a foot on the professional game ladder after passing his exams last year, while Daniel is due to take his in December.
Any would-be referees considering taking up the whistle can call Geoff Berry on 0113 232 9111.
