IT'S a case of good food revisited. Castle Howard is opening a new farm shop, caf and chocolate shop on November 11.
A spokesman for the magnificent 18th century house said: "These outlets will showcase the best foods the region has to offer, encouraging the local community, as well as the 200,000 visitors a year, to enjoy them."
The outlets have been developed in keeping with the architecture of the Stable Courtyard, created by John Carr in the 18th Century.
A focal point of the farm shop will be a traditional butcher's counter, serviced by experienced butcher Paul Nicholson, who will prepare meat to customer requirements.
Exclusive meat ranges will include organic Aberdeen Angus beef, lamb and game reared on the 10,000 acre estate.
The deli counter will offer a selection of regional cheeses; pates, smoked salmon and cooked meats. Other produce which will be available at the farm shop will include seasonal fruit and vegetables fresh bread; dairy produce, everyday groceries; wine and beer, plus a range of speciality beverages and gifts. Andrew Bridgford, farm shop manager, said: "This is an exciting venture where we have sourced the majority of our range from local sources and stayed within Yorkshire.
"We are very proud to have chosen a number of small suppliers whose products are traditionally made and have a story of their own to tell."
