I WOULD take issue with Mrs J Taylor (Letters, October 11). Derwenthorpe objectors have very good reason for objecting to this unreasonable proposed development.
Vehicular access to this site is totally inadequate and would cause major congestion on surrounding roads. Temple Avenue is not wide enough to take the expected traffic volume to and from the site.
The water table here is exceptionally high and has caused flooding nearby and this could be worse if the proposed development should proceed.
Mrs Taylor says the Rowntree foundation has bent over backwards to appease. That is a lot of nonsense as it was dishonest in implying that the great crested newts were planted when in fact they have been here for many years.
I would invite Mrs J Taylor to visit the proposed site and maybe she will have some understanding of the objectors.
Bob Peel,
Temple Avenue,
York.
