STAND-OFF supreme Scott Rhodes walked away with the top prize last night after being named the York City Knights Players' Player of the year.
Rhodes was awarded at the Knights' glittering end-of-season presentation dinner at York Racecourse.
The 24-year-old local star - who just missed out on the LHF Healthplan National League Two Player of the Year gong last week having been named as one of three nominees - thus picked up wonderful consolation after getting the nod from his playing peers.
Rhodes is one of two players to have contracted themselves to the Knights for the 2005 season.
Top try-scorer Chris Langley and top points-scorer Danny Brough, who set new all-time York RL records of 178 goals and 412 points in a season, were also awarded last night, along with David Gorwood, who was named Club Person of the Year.
Gorwood has headed up the Knights' shop and merchandising among other work behind the scenes and has been described as a real unsung hero at the club.
Also last night, it was revealed that Knights main shirt sponsors Phoenix Software will be renewing their sponsorship for the 2005 season. Full details of the deal are set to be officially announced next week.
