DESPITE a low turnout at the penultimate Yorkshire Veterans' Grand Prix race held at Honley Knavesmire Harriers men's and ladies teams managed to hold their positions at the top of the league.
Neil Strange (third 40 class) and Barry Atkinson, who won the 45 section were Knavesmire's only men competitors.
In the women's race Fiona Strange (second in the 35 class) Joy Allen, and Ingrid Sugden (50 class winner) completed Knavesmire's ladies team.
Strange was tenth overall at the Yorkshire veterans 10K championships at Horsforth.
His time of 34 minutes and 49 seconds earned him silver in the 40 category.
Team-mate Malcolm Fawcett took silver in the 60 age group, clocking 45 mins and 50 secs.
Long distance walkers will be heading for the North Yorkshire Moors hills on November 6 for a challenge walk.
Routes of either 22 or 30 miles will take in checkpoints at Scotch Corner, Hesketh Hall and Sutton Bank, starting and finishing at Kilburn Village Hall. Call 01943 462801 for entry forms.
