IT is a shame that Councillor Jamieson-Ball does not understand the difference between the motion I put to council and the amendment put forward by his group that he voted for.
I asked that council looked to draw up supplementary planning guidance on Design For Life.
This is an important issue if York's future homes are to be accessible for the older members of our population and those with disabilities.
What the Liberal Democrats voted for is a line within an existing policy. This will mean that when developers submit their plans without lifts etc, and we ask for Design For Life they will say we do not have a leg to stand on.
Coun Tracey Simpson-Laing,
Labour spokesperson for planning and transport,
Salisbury Road, York.
