THE second round of matches in the Yorkshire Chess League produced three wins and one loss for the York teams.
In the first division, the 'A' team, despite fielding a slightly weaker team than usual, comfortably beat Bradford Central 6-2. Richard Palliser, David Adams, Axel Muller, Patrick Gower, and Paul Hopwood won. Jos Woolley and Tony Slinger drew.
In the same division, the 'B' team faced a powerful Bradford 'A' side, and although losing, they did well to restrict the hosts to 5-3.
Jim Schemlt was the only winner. John Clark, Barry Marshall, Jon Griffith and Peter Cloudsdale added draws.
In the second division, York 'C' beat Bradford 'B' 5-3, but were aided by two defaults. In the games played, Richard Mounce and John Wynne won, Eric Winn and Arron Barker drew.
The 'D' team, who struggled in the third division last season, produced the best result of the day to beat Pontefract 4-3, and continue their 100 per cent winning start.
Victories came from Owen Robson and Rodney Mitchinson, while draws were achieved by Steve Webster, Norman Andrews, Graham Marshall, Mick Beavers and Bill Fulton.
