York Acorn Under-16s produced a solid performance to outclass Hull Dockers 38-4 in the first round of the U16s Yorkshire Cup.
Strong displays from props Chris Richardson, the man of the match, and Sam Swainsbury led the way, while the quick thinking of Joe Budd, Lee Botterill and Steve Harper helped to bring tries for Dean Wardell (3), Mark Gover, Peter Duggan, Scott Jackson, Richardson and Botterill, with the latter converting three.
M Lewis scored two tries as Heworth U16s won 28-20 at Allerton Bywater.
Lewis and Ben Potter scored as Heworth dominated early on, but Allerton fought back to take a 12-8 half-time lead.
Heworth then improved to cross through the impressive Callum Sullivan, Jamie Pallister and Lewis again, with three conversion added. Half-backs Richard Rodgers and Sam Blaney also played well.
Fighting spirit helped Acorn U15s avenge last season's heavy defeat to Upton with a thrilling 34-32 win.
Acorn just had enough to win a fine game, with good performances from loose-forward Adam Jones, centres Tom and Oliver Wilcox Harrison, second-row Dom Nelson, and man of the match stand-off David Leeke.
Acorn U14s excelled against Churwell Chiefs and led before the game ended early due to a Churwell injury.
Acorn forwards dominated and soon broke through as Jack Powell barged over before Tom Wadsworth went 40 yards to score. Mike Green goaled both.
Much-improved York Acorn U13s were unlucky to lose 30-20 to Drighlington. After conceding 12 early points, Acorn regrouped and took the game to the visitors with Mathew Whinn, James Shaw, Josh Newby, Josh Mortimer and George Holroyd all crossing. Man of the match was James Mountford.
An under-strength Selby Warriors U10s lost 44-4 to Middleton Marauders.
Eight of Middleton's nine tries came from the huge Jordan Rawlinson, who was the difference between the sides. Selby's try came from top tackler Pegg. Most improved player was EJ Mills, coach's choice was Jacob Bate and man of the match was Sam Parkin.
A good performance, especially in defence saw, Heworth U10s beat Hunslet Park side 52-10.
Flannon Naismith scored a hat-trick, while other tries came from man of the match Spencer Mitchell (2), most improved player Liam Jackson (2), Daniel Coulson, William Barratt and top tackler Peter Clarke.
This win followed on from the 34-16 defeat of Shaw Cross when they came back from 16-10 down. Naismith got another hat-trick, with other tries from Alex Clough, Barratt and Harry Deighton, who added two goals to go with Jackson's three. Top tackler was Mitchell, with Jacob Field most improved.
