AN East Yorkshire farm which produces "sleepy milk" is a finalist in the Milk Development Council awards for dairy innovation.
St Helen's Farm, on the edge of Seaton Ross, will be judged this week in the consumer products category for its Night Time Milk, which is milked early morning and contains high levels of melatonin, the substance which makes people gently sleepy.
Normally, St Helen's Farm is known for its goats' milk, cheeses and yogurts, but it has linked efforts with another farm in Somerset to produce Night Time milk from carefully selected cows.
Michael Hind, marketing manager of St Helen's Farm, said: "Sales are going wonderfully well. Sainsburys began to sell our product as soon as it came on the market in February and two months ago Waitrose followed suit."
