IT was third time lucky for CB United as they beat First York Yearsley 3-1 in the York Sunday Afternoon League second division.
After losing their opening two games, United went ahead with a Rich Mills header.
Yearsley equalised but goals by Rob Whitehall and Jamie Metcalfe wrapped up victory despite an heroic display in goal by Yearsley's Dave Ellis.
Idrum FC also got their first win of the season by beating King's Head 2-0. In-form Bubwith White Swan won 5-2 at Clifton Rangers while Melbourne FC and Rose and Crown, two clubs challenging at the top, fought out a 2-2 draw.
The only game in division one saw Clifton romp to a 7-1 win at Shoulder Of Mutton.
Mutton's reserves were on the receiving end of a 4-1 League Cup defeat at Bay Horse United. The reserves' defeat would have been greater but for a fine display by their goalkeeper.
Saville AV won 4-2 at Cottage Inn.
