JACK got far better value out of this book. Roald Dahl was one of our greatest storytellers. Jack, like millions of children before him, has devoured The Witches, The Twits - the whole Dahl back catalogue.
So this provided a welcome chance to renew fictional acquaintances and learn more about their creator.
True, D Is For Dahl is an unashamed attempt to cash in on the late author's magic. But it is done with care, with many of Dahl's own words and with those marvellous Quentin Blake illustrations.
If you have a Dahl devotee in your family, they will love the chance to read a new twist on the old master's works.
