Acomb Hockey Club men's first team continued their unbeaten start in Yorkshire League division two by beating Gainsborough Roses 3-2.
After conceding an early goal to the visitors Acomb pulled ahead before half-time with a converted short corner by Nick Linfoot and a scrambled second by Pete Hilton.
Roses equalised early in the second half but with Chris Foster dominant in midfield, Acomb scored their third from a short corner through Ian Roberton.
Despite having two players sin-binned Acomb held on to the lead and all three points.
Acomb Ladies' first team went down 2-1 at Yorkshire League division two leaders Ben Rhydding III.
The home side were the stronger early on and scored twice before the break. In the second half Acomb kept their opponents at bay with Gemma Hall outstanding in goal and Kerry Woods a mainstay of the defence.
Acomb did have the final say when, with the final touch of the match, Rachel Linfoot skilfully deflected a short corner strike into the net from the near post.
Acomb Ladies II met newly-formed Sheffield University Bankers II, who maintained their unbeaten run with a comfortable 5-1 win.
Acomb were 3-0 down in the first half before Lorraine Mouser scored. Claire Forsythe had an excellent game for Acomb.
