OPPONENTS to the closure of St Peter's School path (Letters, October 5) forget that it cuts right through a school.
A school means children. Children are vulnerable. They should be protected from today's violent society.
Even in calmer times there was an incident when youths on the path shot at school pupils. Luckily no one was injured and "only" air-guns were involved. But it shows how the path makes the school grounds inherently unsafe.
Let those who insist on no closure first ponder on whether they would like their gardens and other children's play areas to be crossed by public footpaths.
