ON July 11, Kevin Walker and John Cooper, both of Strensall, conquered their fear of heights and abseiled down the walls of Bamburgh Castle on the North East coast.
Kevin is the youngest member of the Galtres Forest branch of the RNLI and this is his most adventurous fundraising scheme.
Although the weather was wet and cold, their spirits, and those of their supporters who travelled with them, were high. Their efforts raised £600 which will be split equally between the Grace Darling Museum appeal and the RNLI. Now they are planning to abseil from Alnwick Castle next year to raise more cash.
