Crescent's Iain Smith is the new York Phoenix Open League division one individual champion.
With an awesome display of darts, Smith hit 140, 100, then a 98-finish for a superb 15 darts. He followed that with 140, 95 and a 66-finish for a fine 21 darts to defeat hot favourite Paul Dixon (Volunteer Arms) in two legs after Dixon had opportunities following a flurry of tons. The win gave Smith his first major honour.
Dean Smallwood wrapped up the division two and three individual title with a 2-0 win over Geoff Dawson from the Three Cranes. Smallwood went 1-0 up after Dawson had the chance to take the first leg. Then Smallwood hit a 130 to give him the edge to take the title-winning leg in 23 darts.
John and Wendy Smith defeated Rich Corner-Sue Lowery in the mixed pairs competition with a 2-0 result which saw an excellent 111 finish from John Smith to capture the trophy for the second time.
The Smiths were again in action for the pairs final, but this time with different partners. The all-Phoenix final saw Wendy Smith team up with Jim Wallis and defeat husband John, who partnered Nick Harteveld. After trailing to the first leg, Smith-Wallis hit back to take the decider after Harteveld-Smith had wasted chances to seal the win.
Bay Horse added to their division one championship with a stunning 5-1 win against Phoenix in the triples final.
Kev Watson (Phoenix) took the opener in 19 darts, but Bay hit back through Paul Cooper with 17 darts. Kev O'Hara put Bay 2-1 up, then Rich Corner hit three ton-plus scores to edge them into the lead. A maximum for 19 darts from Cooper made the score 4-1 before O'Hara sealed the title.
Shepherd 'A' have clinched the York John Smith's men's division one championship.
Mark Jones (24) and match-winners Heath Scaife-Mick Willsden saw them to a 5-4 victory over Sun 'A', who claimed the aggregate with fine wins from Chris Thompson (17), Tony Cooper (19) and then combining for 23.
Cygnet 'A' brought the challenge of Clifton 'A' to a halt with a fantastic 8-1 result helped by good wins from Mark Hartley (19) and Neil Caywood (20).
Mark Gale (180) inspired Trevor Day-Daz Hawcroft to take the decider at Mitre, whose John Pickering gamed in 19.
Pete Turnbull-Garry O'Reagan took the decider for Golden Slipper at Swan, whose Scott Dowsett also gamed in 19.
In division two, second-placed Cygnet 'B' beat leaders Clifton 'B' 6-3 after they refused to be distracted by a 20-darter from Barry Noble.
A 180 from Gary Stewart was not enough to stop Holgate going down 5-4 at Osbaldwick.
A 106 finish from Andy Barker ensured Shepherd 'B' will end the season as division three champions after a 7-2 win at Clifton 'C'.
Chris Hardy (18) and a 180 from Pete Cox helped give Flag 'B' the runners-up position following a 9-0 drubbing of St Clements.
