ARTWORK by offenders and ex-offenders will be exhibited by the Burnbrake Trust charity at St William's College, York, from August 16 to 27.

The trust was formed in 1975 in Salisbury, Wiltshire, to aid the rehabilitation of offenders through participation in art.

"The work originates from a varied range of backgrounds, ages and locations, and the exhibition showcases many wide-ranging and interesting artists," says Eliza Mann, the arts project manager.

"This year we're featuring some fantastic artists and we're hoping to better our successful exhibition last year where we sold a number of paintings before we had even set up."

As well as paintings, the trust will be exhibiting craft and poetry from HM Prisons all over the country.

All items on display will be for sale and proceeds will be split between the artist, the Victim Support and the Burnbrake Trust.

"This year's exhibition is one of the strongest we've ever shown, and no matter what the individual taste is, there'll be something for everyone, so no one will be disappointed," says Eliza.
