IAN Burgess was the star man as Hunters the estate agent York and District Senior League division five leaders Dunnington beat Thirsk.
With Thirsk races causing a switch of the premier division encounter to Dunnington, the second team half of the double fixture was played at Harome, where Dunnington made 172 all out. Chris Burgess scored 41 and Martin Harper took 5-67.
Burgess then struck back as his 6-48 had Thirsk all out for 121 to give Dunnington a 51 run victory.
Tadcaster Magnet ended any promotion ideas being held by their near neighbours Bolton Percy when they handed out a 35 run beating.
Richard Taylor was top scorer for Magnet with 55 while former Huby player Dave Colquhoun added 35. Martin Pears turned in a super spell of 22 overs as he took 7-85 to leave Magnet 157 all out.
When Bolton Percy replied, John Rossington made 50, his first half century of the season, and Ben Mallock made 24 from the opener's slot, but Simon Saxton took 4-12 in 7.3 overs as Bolton Percy were toppled for 122.
York III maintained their bid for the solitary promotion spot in the division when they beat bottom placed Carlton Towers by seven wickets.
Darren Graves made 58 and Martin Denby 30 as Towers reached 147-8. York's 2003 division six bowling averages topper Simon Hall took 5-45. Sound knocks by Steve Jones (46) and Peter Bainbridge (56) then ensured a comfortable York triumph.
Huntington were thrashed at home to Cawood, who went home with the full thirty points.
Mal Storey toiled manfully for Huntington as he took 3-100 but a nap hand of run makers saw Cawood reach 213-5 before declaring after 44 overs. Their successful batsmen were Edwards (25), Bartram (36), Nicholson (58), Robson (47no) and Tunney (28no).
Bartram then took 6-29 in ten overs as Huntington were skittled for 47.
Hovingham gave their survival chances a fillip when they had a 40 run victory at Sessay.
Mark Redhead's 64 was the difference between the two sides since his effort, abetted by 26 from Mike Hemminway, countered the threat posed by Ian Wilkinson, who took 6-30 in 14.4 overs and saw Hovingham to 143 all out.
Hemmingway (4-37 in 18 overs) then teamed up with R Cundall (3-32) to dismiss Sessay for 103, the sole resistance coming from Richard Ormston (34).
