THE Yorkshire ECB Premier League won through to the final of the Costcutter Inter Leagues Cup with a narrow two-wicket victory over the Bradford League at Harrogate with York players to the fore.
Bradford seemed to be well in control as Mark Gill and former Scarborough player Ian Philliskirk scored 66 each.
However, their scoring rate was checked by Castleford spinners Davi Wainwright and John Randerson.
When Cleethorpes pacemen Andy Carrington returned he picked up three quick victims to crush Bradford's hopes of a larger total than a useful 214.
Yorkshire's reply was an explosion as York's Simon Mason hit four boundaries in the first over and stroked another five before departing run out in less than even time.
York's Nick Kay (63) joined Alexis Twigg (52). Both eased boundaries to all parts of the ground.
Twigg departed surprisingly lbw and when Kay left 42 runs were required off 13 overs with six wickets left.
A succession of careless shots led t a steady slide of wickets so than York player Dan Broadbent and Richard Gilbert had to get six runs off the last five balls for victory which was secured when Gilbert eased a Chinese cut off the last ball to the vacant fine leg area for the final two runs.
