THE proposal by the school to close a right of way which runs through the St Peter's "estate" is a typical example of the arrogance which this organisation displays when it comes to dealing with matters affecting the community in which it operates.
I challenge the school to produce any evidence that use of this path by the public can be directly linked to the crime to which the school maintains it has been subject, or that its continued public use has been or is likely to be putting pupils at risk.
The school has been waiting for years for a suitable opportunity to control this and other paths in the vicinity and it now believes that recent legislation enables it to do this.
Can I ask that Clifton residents unite in opposition to this unacceptable proposal by writing to the rights of way officer at the city council without delay, stating their objections.
Philip Crowe,
Clifton,
