THE twice postponed York Charity Cup cricket final was completed at Clifton Park last night when York beat Osbaldwick by 76 runs.
A strong York side proved to have too much class, rattling up 157-7 in their allotted overs, principally due to Stephen Piercy (50), Rob Flack (29) and S Gregory (23 not out). Osbaldwick bowler G Jones had excellent figures of 5-38 and was prominent with the bat, scoring 35. But Osbaldwick fell away and were dismissed for 81.
Man of the match Piercy returned 3-32 and Australian spinner Riley O'Neil 4-9.
The trophies were presented by Melvyn Allison, chairman of sponsors Minster Engineering.
