MURDER suspect Mark Hobson was still being questioned by police today in connection with the murders of Diane and Claire Sanderson and James and Joan Britton.
Detectives have secured an extension to keep quizzing the 34-year-old at Harrogate Police Station, after the initial mandatory 24 hours ran out.
A police superintendent can authorise a further 12 hours of questioning, and after that a further 36 hours can be authorised by a magistrates court.
It is not yet known whether detectives will need to apply for an extension from the courts later today.
Hobson was treated for dehydration and minor grazes at Harrogate District Hospital, following his dramatic arrest on Sunday, in fields behind a furniture shop in Shipton-by-Beningbrough.
The alarm was raised at Derek North's neighbouring garage on the A19, after Hobson had gone in to buy matches and cigarette papers.
With permission from relevant authorities, the suspect can be held for up to 48 hours more before being released or charged.
