THE letter from S C Ward (July 21) is urban myth number 10,000.
An elderly couple were visiting York/Manchester/Grimsby/Timbuctoo. They left their car in a street and walked around.
Husband felt very ill - it seemed serious so the wife decided to drive him to hospital, but lo and behold, said car has been clamped.
Husband dies/almost dies/whatever. How sad. Just shows the evils of clamping.
Even more, it shows how stupid people are. The old woman for never having heard of the emergency services - how odd that she could drive but not dial 999 - and the public for believing and repeating these myths.
Ever heard the one about the man who died on the way to hospital because the blood transfusion tube came out of his arm when the ambulance went over a speed hump?
