Certificate 18's competition for rock/metal/punk bands from across the region is to be rescheduled.
The music pub in Gillygate, York, is seeking 30 bands to take part in the Certified event and has set a new deadline for applications of July 31. The competition will have a new start date of August 11.
Application packs can be obtained from the pub or by ringing Phil Gallagher on 07876 140256 after 6pm, or by sending an e-mail to philflow88@hotmail.com
The 30 bands will be competing for a cash prize of £1,000 in a competition that will open with a first round of six heats, each featuring five bands playing four songs, two of which must be original.
Two bands will progress from each heat through audience votes, and three judges will decide which further three acts will progress to round two. Audience members will receive a voting slip in return for the £2 admission charge. At the final, a panel of six judges will pick the winner from five finalists.
"As well as needing bands, we're looking for sponsorship from audio hire businesses, record companies, recording studios, local businesses, and music shops," Phil says.
- WIDE Open, Certificate 18's new outlet for acoustic acts, will be launched on August 1. On alternate Sundays at 8pm, acoustic musicians, comedians and poets will have the chance to participate in this "open-mic night
