Marc Smith used his head last night to earn Harrogate Town a 2-2 draw against a Birmingham City XI at Wetherby Road.
The tall centre forward struck his first on seven minutes from a Mark Atkins free kick and added a second two minutes from the break after James McDaid beat the 'keeper to the ball and fired in a cross.
Birmingham's reserve and youth team combination responded through a long range Stephen Bradley free kick from outside the area on 27 minutes before Dean Curtis headed an equaliser in the 76th minute.
Former Leeds United and England defender David Batty has signed up to become a Harrogate Town vice-president, where he will be reunited with former Blackburn Rovers team-mate Mark Atkins.
