Up and down York Under-11 schoolboys emerged from their first competitive away game at Hull with a 4-4 draw.
The visitors unexpectedly found themselves 2-0 down after just ten minutes after failing to deal with a Hull free-kick and leaking a second through poor communication.
York replied immediately when a good cross from the left by Charlie Taylor was slotted home by Sam Byram. And within minutes, captain Conor Qualter made a strong run down the right before crossing for Charlie Clamp to equalise.
York dominated much of the second half with some classy attacking play and man of the match Sam Byram half-volleyed York into the lead before Jacob Gore pounced on a mistake by the Hull keeper to make it 4-2.
But defensive errors in the last ten minutes allowed Hull to retaliate with two late goals they didn't deserve on balance, especially considering the efforts of Alex Dale at centre-back.
York will now rest for the summer holidays but will be back in action at the beginning of September.
