A talk on how Yorkshire's businesses can benefit from the huge and controversial expansion of the University of York has been organised by the Yorkshire region of the Institute of Directors.
Speaker will be Jon Meacock, director of the Heslington East Project, which foresees a doubling of the size of the university's campus.
Outline plans for the 65-hectare site have already triggered a demand for a public inquiry by members of Heslington Parish Council, although Heslington Village Trust is backing the proposals.
Mr Meacock's talk takes place at the Conference Suite at the Innovation Centre on York Science Park, Heslington, on Monday, September 13.
He is expected to outline the plan for major growth in research activity and the increase in students over the next ten to 15 years as well as the growth in incubator space for start-up companies.
He will argue that the new development project is likely to create 2,000 university jobs and a further 2,500 in "related research activity", particularly in spin-off companies and further jobs in the city.
