I AGREE whole-heartedly with Joyce Pickard's sentiments regarding the International Court of Justice's ruling that Israel's separation wall breaches international law and should be torn down (July 15).

However, as per usual Israel will take no notice of international law.

The only country which has any influence over Israel policy is the US, which also will not accept the ruling and will most probably veto any resolution in the UN Security Council calling for action, as it has done many times before.

Therefore, the only immediate solution is for the European Union to withdraw its preferential trade agreement with Israel and introduce economic sanctions. I urge all those against the wall to write to their MEPs calling for this to take place.

In the meantime, there is something every supporter of Palestine can do; boycott Israeli goods. You can find out more information by visiting the York Palestine Solidarity Campaign stall on a Saturday afternoon in Parliament Street or visiting the campaign website at www.bigcampaign.org
