I HAVE just returned from one of my infrequent visits to York and was absolutely disgusted at the amount of litter I encountered.
The whole city centre was littered with fish and chip papers, cigarette ends, bottles, cans and so forth.
I thought we now had litter wardens, or are they all on the outskirts of York picking on pensioners? Or perhaps City Of York Council can't afford to pay them any more after wasting taxpayers' money on postage for unnecessary demands for council tax.
