Selby maintained their superiority in division four with the better of a draw against Whitkirk but had their lead slashed to 22 points by Londesbrough Park's success at Sheriff Hutton.

In another game involving minimum overs Selby rattled up 178-6 with youngster Matthew Hoyle paving the way with 83 not out and Ian Lake making 47. Danny Stone had some success for Whitkirk in taking 3-60 but was outgunned by Richard Sherwood whose 5 for 28 for the homesters had Whitkirk on their heels at 91-7.

The game at Sheriff Hutton started at the latest possible time of 4pm but brought little comfort to the home side who were dismissed for exactly 100 as Rob Wilkinson who took 3-45 and Mark Tissiman 4-30 set up a Londesbrough Park victory. Joe Wilford made 31 for Sheriff but Tissiman followed with 41 and John Williamson made 31no as Park won by seven wickets.

Hornsea's promotion ambitions were dented when they suffered a surprise home defeat which lifted their conquerors, Pocklington, out of the re-election zone.

The only batsman to make a show for Hornsea was John Dawson, who made 32 as Simon Hill helped to dismiss them for 151 with 3-43. Hornsea's bowlers then made minimal inroads as Martin Nesom 44, Dave Gamble 26 and Adam Thomas 30no saw Pocklington to victory at 154-4.

Huby hit the division's top score of the day when they took 186-5 off the Civil Service attack in a 30 over game.

Darren Howell top scored with 70 while Paul Moore 48 and Dave Patmore 37 were also in the runs. Mick Bradley was again the pick of the Service attack as he claimed 4-69. When Service replied, Darren Handley made 58 and Andy Raper 27 but Tim Little's spinners caused problems as he took 4-44 with Service closing down on 142-7.

The games at Osbaldwick and Thorp Arch fell victims to the weather.
