YOUNG basketball players can shoot hoops to their hearts' content this summer at this year's Yorkshire International Basketball Camp in York.
Players get to work on the basic elements of their game then put them into practice in 3 v 3s and tournament scenarios under the watchful eye of some of the county's best coaches plus guest coaches from overseas.
Past coaching staff have included male and female US college hot-shots designed to offer positive role models for the young players, and there is always a player/coach ratio of less than 10:1.
New for this year is a dedicated performance camp for the best young talent in the area who have either played or have the potential to play in the National League.
The three-day programme in late August gives the athletes a look at the wider picture and includes non-playing aspects such as sports psychology and nutritional advice.
Students need to take packed lunch and drinks, kit including white and coloured T-shirts and their own basketball.
The summer camp runs from July 26 to 30 for boys and girls aged eight to 18, and costs £60, and the performance camp for exceptional young players is from August 23 to 25 and costs £30.
Both are at Oaklands School and run from 9am to 4.30pm daily.
