THIS should give the former Rolling Stones bassist his hat-trick of UK Jazz and Blues chart album number ones.
It truly is superb... and so it should be with the awesome talents of people such as Georgie Fame, Albert Lee, Martin Taylor and Gary Brooker.
The Kings have been "on the blues throne" for eight years and Wyman's writing collaboration with Terry Taylor has produced some startling sounds. There are four here from a memorable 15-track album including Mississippi Flyer, Town Living, This Ain't United Nations and Memphis Woman.
They even do a brilliant cover of George Harrison's Taxman. Bill Wyman's formula is simple but so effective. Surround yourself with great musicians who love music, have paid their dues and, despite the relentless march of time and wrinkles, continue to make superb sounds. Old "Stone Face" has matured into a great edifice of blues.
Any band which includes Georgie Fame's organ, if you pardon the phrase, and his gritty voice is OK by me. So get happy, get the Blues... courtesy of Bill and his Kings.
