JOHN Batchelor's comments in the Evening Press (Thursday, July 8) are both interesting and revealing.

In referring to a £35million turnover group as an 'opportunity' for York City FC and by stating that the cash available 'could have been as much as £200,000' he continues with his fascination with money and the useof sales-jargon. He infers City could access improbably large and available amounts of ready cash.

Haven't we been here before?

His dinner party analogy would be more realistic if Mr Batchelor was regarded as a chap who after initially offering to cook a large expensive meal for a group of friends then decided to treat them to an even more expensive meal out instead before scuttling off just as the bill arrives.

Sorry, Mr Batchelor but despite your best attempts at rewriting history your role in your own pantomime was, and is, that of 'false prophet/profit'.

Thankfully, the Trust have the sense to keep the curtain down limiting the chances of a repeat performance.
