New Earswick have captured the top spot in division six of the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League after wins at Appleton Roebuck and against promotion rivals Cawood.

Daz Sheriston and Sue Wilson were unbeaten at Appleton Roebuck with Keith Pearson and Sandra Burley top scorers against Cawood.

Lorraine Bishop partnered Graham Bond to win 25 games for Cawood against Riccall and the following evening played with Chris Abbott to top score again in their fixture at Riccall. That result put Cawood in second place just ahead of previous leaders Fulford on games difference after Fulford had a good win against Riccall.

Poppleton firsts have relegated their second-string from division one after they defeated them. Matthew Stephenson and Nicola Loten won 28 games for Dunnington to move their team away from relegation with a win against Civil Service.

Andy Cooke and Margaret Whitehead ensured York stayed on course for the title with a win against their second team.

Tadcaster are back at the top of division two after they beat promotion rivals Stillington led by John Rutherford and Lorraine Pearey.

Paul Blackett and Anna Araksiren won 27 games for Bubwith in their relegation match with Rowntree Park to move out of the automatic relegation spot.

Riccall stayed top of division three with a last-gasp win at York and a draw against Bishopthorpe.

Selby continued their battle for one of the promotion spots with a win at rivals Sherburn and Civil Service stayed in touch with victory against Sutton-on-Derwent, Adrian McClaren and Anne Jackson winning 26 games.

Sutton-on-Derwent have moved into second place in division five behind unbeaten leaders Cawood after wins against Strensall and Wistow. Dave Nowell and Sally Simpson won 32 games against Strensall and were also top scorers at Wistow, where Luke Dove and Pam Lochman backed up well.

Wistow earned two valuable points in their relegation battle when they completed the double over Heworth.

John Latham and Dinah Burke won 32 games for Wilberfoss against Cliffe in division eight to move into second place on games difference just ahead of Bubwith who lost to Bishopthorpe. Cawood are the third team on the same points after their win against Strensall.

Fulford need only one more win in division nine to secure one of the promotion places after winning their last three matches. James Pauw and Madeline Hatfield top-scored in two of the ties with Andrew Lowson and Jenny Rowland winning their last rubber 11-1 at Selby to seal the points.

Appleton Roebuck played their third draw against Stillington and then won at Wistow to stay in promotion contention. Only one point separates the five teams in the relegation area.

Next Generation only need one more point to take promotion in division ten after beating Wistow. Stamford Bridge moved into second place with all three couples winning 29 games in their win against Tollerton after Glen Melia and Lucy Collier led Heworth to victory against New Earswick.

The Tyke Men's Tennis League programme was washed out last week.
