THE Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope, is expected to turn down the life peerage offered to retiring Archbishops, according to his media advisor.
A biography of Dr David Hope, the Church of England's second-in-command, is also expected to criticise the Government for excessive "meddling" in people's lives.
The book, published by Continuum this Autumn, is also said to reveal how the Archbishop, now aged 64, is said to have told friends he will work as a parish priest when he retires, possibly next year.
He will also say how he regrets being the only senior cleric to back the invasion of Iraq.
