FORMER York City skipper Darren Edmondson is poised to make a return to the Football League at League Two Chester City.
The right wing-back was one of the 11 who were not offered contracts at the end of the season after a turbulent spell that had seen him in and out of the team, partially due to injury.
But now he is 'imminently' signing a contract with Chester.
He said: "It's League football so that's the main thing.
"I had some good times at York but unfortunately the way it ended last season for me was not the best but I'm sure I will bounce back."
Another ex-City player, Derek Fazackerley, will share first team coaching duties at Manchester City next season with former Nottingham Forest and England defender Stuart Pearce.
Fazackerley previously worked with Arthur Cox at the City of Manchester Stadium, but Cox has retired as assistant-manager - a role which will not be filled, City opting to promote Pearce, who previously worked in a general coaching capacity at the club.
