York City's Conference debut on Sky has been cancelled because of a scheduling error.
The York City v Hereford match had been moved from Saturday, August 21 to Monday, August 23 but a scheduling mix-up by the broadcasting giants has forced the tie from their plans.
The game will now be played on the original Saturday date. But Sky have promised to return to Bootham Crescent later in the season to ensure the cash-strapped club do not miss out on the £5,000 they would have netted from hosting the cameras.
The match could have been played on Thursday, August 26, but both teams would have had insufficient time to prepare for their next games the following Saturday.
Communications director Sophie McGill said: "It's disappointing Sky Sports have made this scheduling error.
"Looking at the positives, we believe we can expect a greater away attendance (from Hereford)."
When Sky Sports were today contacted by the Evening Press, they were unable to confirm the switch.
